Resting Heart Rate

The Resting Heart Rate is the number of heartbeats per minute while the body is at rest, and it is a key indicator of cardiovascular health. A lower Resting Heart Rate typically signifies a more efficient heart function and better overall fitness. Monitoring this metric helps assess the body’s baseline state, as well as detect any abnormalities or potential stress factors that may affect heart performance.

How is it calculated?

The Resting Heart Rate is calculated using data from at-rest measurements over the past 2 weeks and averaging it.

When is it available? To obtain an initial reading, users must complete at least two Face Scans each week for two consecutive weeks. The first result will be available after the second Face Scan in the second week.

Example timeline with Face Scans:

  • Week 1: Monday & Wednesday - No Resting Heart Rate available yet.
  • Week 2: Tuesday & Thursday - Resting Heart Rate available on Friday.

How can it be used?

Resting Heart Rate is a reliable baseline metric that can be used when assessing a person’s health state, cardiovascular condition, and stress levels. The heart rate tends to be lower during restful periods and higher during times of stress or physical activity.

  • Monitoring stress levels: If a user’s Resting Heart Rate is elevated beyond their normal baseline, it may indicate underlying stress or other health concerns.
  • Detecting cardiovascular issues: Sustained high Resting Heart Rates can be an early indicator of potential heart conditions or fitness concerns.
  • Tracking improvements in fitness: As users improve their cardiovascular fitness through regular exercise, their Resting Heart Rate may decrease.

By comparing the user's Resting Heart Rate to their personal baseline and population averages, actionable insights and personalised recommendations can be provided. For example, users experiencing elevated Resting Heart Rate may benefit from stress management techniques such as meditation or relaxation exercises.

These kinds of analyses are also performed by IntelliProve's Insights Algorithms and available as Interpretations.

Interpreting results
