Presenting results responsibly
IntelliProve's Wellbeing Solution is a general wellness product. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. When you show Face Scan results in your own app or platform, the way you present them determines how users, regulators and app stores see your product.
This page explains what you can and cannot do when presenting results, so your integration stays within the wellness scope and passes app store review.
Why this matters
Your interface defines the intended use. Regulators judge a product by how it reads to the user, not by what the terms of use say. If your screens interpret results the way a doctor would, your app can be treated as a medical device, regardless of disclaimers.
A disclaimer does not fix a medical-looking interface. The disclaimer is mandatory (see below), but it only works together with a wellness presentation. A "not medical advice" line next to a red "High blood pressure" label still reads as a medical assessment.
App stores check this. Apple reviews health apps under App Review Guideline 1.4.1. Apps that show measurements with medical interpretation (for example blood pressure labelled high, normal or low) are treated as medical apps. Apple then asks for regulatory clearance in every country where the app is available. The Wellbeing Solution has no such clearance, because it is not a medical device.
The core rule: show readings, not verdicts
Show what was measured. Do not tell the user what the measurement means for their health.
Allowed | Not allowed |
|---|---|
The value with its unit, e.g. "Heart rate: 72 bpm" | Labels that judge the value, e.g. "Normal", "High", "Low", "Elevated", "Hypertensive" |
Marking the value as an estimate, e.g. "Estimated blood pressure: 124/81 mmHg" | Colour coding by health range (green, orange, red) or traffic lights |
Trends of the user's own values over time | Range bars, gauges or reference bands that place the value in a healthy or unhealthy zone |
A short neutral explanation of what the biomarker is | Explanations of what the user's specific value says about their health |
General wellbeing tips that are not linked to a specific result | Advice triggered by a result, e.g. "Your value is high, consult your doctor" |
Generic reminders not based on the scan, e.g. "Regular check-ups with your GP are recommended for adults" | Names of medical conditions linked to a result, e.g. hypertension, tachycardia, arrhythmia, depression |
"Wellbeing insights", "wellness check", "health indicators" | "Diagnosis", "screening", "early detection", "medical assessment", "clinical result" |
Guidance per type of result
Physiological measurements: heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, blood pressure
- Show the value and unit only. No labels, colours or ranges.
- Call the values estimates, especially blood pressure.
- Do not compare the value to clinical thresholds, guidelines or population norms.
- Do not show advice or follow-up actions based on the value.
Blood pressure needs extra care. It is the measurement app stores look at most closely. If you show it:
- Use the word "estimate" or "estimated" next to the value.
- Do not show any classification such as normal, high normal or hypertensive, and no colour zones.
- Handle a missing value. When signal quality is too low for blood pressure, the API returns null for it while the other results are still available. Hide the tile or show a neutral message such as "Blood pressure could not be estimated for this scan."
If you are unsure whether blood pressure belongs in your product, leave it out. The other results remain available.
Wellbeing scores: e.g. Mental Stress, Energy Balance, Sleep Quality, Resonant Breathing Score
These can be shown with wellbeing framing, such as a score and a short motivating message. Keep the message about wellbeing and lifestyle (rest, breathing, activity). Do not link a score to a medical condition or to medical action.
Recommendations and follow-up actions
- Tips about lifestyle and wellbeing are fine, e.g. "Try a short breathing exercise" or "Consider a recovery day".
- Never trigger a medical action based on a result. "Your blood pressure is high, consult a healthcare provider" turns the app into a screening tool, which is a medical device function.
- General reminders not tied to a measurement are fine, e.g. age-based check-up reminders.
How to describe IntelliProve and your app
Use | Avoid |
|---|---|
"Wellness check", "wellbeing insights", "health indicators" | "Medical check", "diagnostic", "health screening" |
"Based on scientifically validated rPPG technology" | "Clinically validated", "medically validated", "medical-grade" |
"Helps you understand and track your wellbeing" | "Detects", "diagnoses" or "monitors" a condition |
"Your app is a wellness app and is not intended for medical use" | "Built on certified technology", "CE-marked", "MDR certified", "a certified medical device" |
About certification. IntelliProve holds a CE-marked Class I medical device, but the Wellbeing Solution is a separate product and is not covered by that certification. Do not describe your app, or the Face Scan inside it, as certified, CE-marked or a medical device. Do not submit IntelliProve's Declaration of Conformity as regulatory clearance for your app: it does not cover the Wellbeing Solution, it only applies in the EU, and it will not satisfy app stores for other markets.
Mandatory disclaimer
Wherever you show results, include the "No medical advice" disclaimer. Our Health dashboard includes this disclaimer by default. If not using our Health dashboard, make sure to include such disclaimer. Below we include the recommended disclaimer to show.

The software does not offer any kind of medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and are not intended for any medical use or purposes. The software intended use is general wellness only. The estimative measurements provided to you of physiological and psychological states should not be treated as medical advice. The measurements IntelliProve provides to you are not intended to be utilized for any medical purposes or to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, ailment, or injury. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you expressly agree we are not providing any medical advice via the software. - Place it where results are shown, not only in your terms of use.
- Keep it visible without extra taps where possible.
- Remember that it supports a wellness presentation but does not replace one.
Publishing on the App Store or Google Play
- Declare your app as not a regulated medical device. In App Store Connect, the regulated medical device status should reflect that your app is a wellness app.
- Describe the app as wellness in your store listing, screenshots and review notes, using the wording above.
- Check your result screens against this page before submitting. Medical interpretation of results is the most common reason for rejection under Guideline 1.4.1.
- Expect questions about accuracy. App reviewers can ask how the measurements are validated, and how your app relates to IntelliProve. Contact us before you respond, so we can provide the right documentation.
